Punjab College Teachers Union demands to fill vacant posts in colleges immediately

FEROZEPUR: A state level meeting of Punjab and College Teachers Union (PCTU) was held today at R.S.D.College, Ferozepur City, under the chairmanship of president Prof. J.R.Prashar.
In this meeting, the office bearer of PCTU from all over the Punjab besides 13 members of the executive body and 16 district presidents participated. In this first meeting, held under the leadership of Prof.Prashar, Punjab President, serious discussions were held on the demands of Punjab and Chandigarh college teachers and staff. Punjab President, Prof.Prashar and other office bearers said strongly that the government is not serious about the demands of the PCTU and because of this attitude of the government; they will be compelled to adopt the path of struggle.
The Union, in its resolution passed in the meeting demanded from the government, to release the arrears of the revised pay scales from January 2006 to March,2010, by withdrawing the ban put on the Punjab and Chandigarh college teachers and fill-up the vacant posts immediately.
They also demanded to bring all the teachers appointed against the un-aided posts under Security of Service Act 1974. Prof. Prashar also demanded for extending the relaxation in refresher courses, pension to the retired professors and staff, gratuity and all other service benefits
