ROPAR: The residents  of village Lalpura and activists of Government Teachers Union today gheraoed the team of Director General School Education(DGSE) office, which had come to the Government Middle School Lalpura in connection with the enquiry regarding the alleged blackmailing of a lady teacher by the education department officials.
It may be mentioned that the lady teacher of Government Middle School Lalpura had alleged that Rashtriya Madhymik Shiksha Abhiyan (RAMSA)District Coordinator Kuldeep Singh and Government Middle School Barari drawing teacher Jaswinder Singh, who had come to the school for checking, had been blackmailing her for coming late on duty.
She had alleged that these two officials had told her that she would be spared if she accepts their '   ..."unethical' demand. She had called these officials to school on April 9 and made public the recording to conversation held with these officials in this regard following which the villagers had beaten up these officials.
Taking serious note of the development, the Director General School Education office sent a team for conducting an enquiry in to the matter today. The team first met the accused officials at Ropar and thereafter visited the School at Lalpura in connection with the enquiry.
One of the team members allegedly tried to pressurise the teacher by asking her as to why she had attended the call of the accused officials. This action of the probe team member led to resentment among the villagers and activists of the Government Teachers Union, who raised slogans against the enquiry team accusing it of bias and trying to save the accused.
Following the protests by the villagers, the team decided to return without recording the statements. However, they were not allowed to return and were gheraoed by the villagers and Government Teachers Union activists.
The team was allowed to return after Director General School Education Ashok Singla assured the villagers on phone that the erring officials would be suspended. Meanwhile DGSE informed that he had  issued suspension orders of these two officials, which would be served on them by Thursday.
