Ray of hope of regularization for SSA contract teachers Minister refutes Opp claim of fund misappropriation Times News Agartala, August 08: Contract teachers serving under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan are most likely to sustain in service even if the scheme'' 's tenure gets over. Referring to the statement of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at a recent conference here, School Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty said, '' '"The CM told that the
SSA teachers wouldn'' 't have to come down to the streets even if the scheme gets over'' ' . '' '"Besides, the SSA teachers are enjoying salary, holidays and other service courtesies just like regular government teachers'' ' , added the minister.
The minister flayed at Opposition leader'' 's statement about misappropriation of Rs. 57 crores in extending salary for these contract teachers saying that the state government is drawing funds only to suffice equal salary to the SSA teachers in comparison to regular teachers of the state. '' '"We can'' 't give higher salary to the contract teachers than our regular teachers. That would be an injustice to our teachers. But we had resolved long back that we would be paying them at par with our regular teachers'' ' , said the minister. It is mentionable here that each SSA teacher is entitled to receive salary at par with the fixed salary payable to a regular teacher while the salary goes up with each increment payable to the regular teachers with regularization after five years of service. '' '"There is no specific salary structure fixed for the contract teachers of SSA. How come the Opposition leader claim that the state government has misappropriated with Rs. 57 crores or so when we didn'' 't draw the total funds allocated for us?'' ' asked the School Education Minister. '' '"We received funds as much as needed to pay the SSA teachers at par with our regular teachers and all these were paid to the teachers till every last cent'' ' , added the minister.
He further said that the SSA is being implemented in a mission mode project and completed statements of released funds and expense has to be submitted to the centre after regular intervals.
