CHANDIGARH: Even though the protesting EGS teachers met Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at  Chak Fateh Singhwala village in Bathinda district on Tuesday, the teachers maintained that their ongoing agitation would continue. Pritpal Singh, president of EGS teachers''  ' union said that chief minister told them that the matter would be discussed in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

However, he said that earlier also they had been given assurance by the state government to consider their demands but nothing has been done. The Chief Minister also assured the teachers that their demands will be put up for consideration before Cabinet by cabinet subcommittee.

The six teachers who had climbed on a water tank refused to come down till the issue is resolved. Interestingly, with the time running out and possibility of the election code of conduct coming into effect in near future, the EGS teachers are desperate to get their demands met by the state government as early as possible.
