By Harish K MongaFEROZEUR: The Punjab education department seems to be losing its grip over its policies. Almost daily the teachers of almost all the categories are demonstrating to protest for acceptance of their demands.
It has been observed that the recruitment policies are not properly framed resulting in protests, demonstrations, agitations etc. There is need to issue clear instructions at the time of recruitment of teachers in any category to avoid any controversy and consequences at a later stage. Only the long term policies are successful if they properly studied before implementation.
In this context, now the ETT Pass Teachers Union has come forward and staged a strong protest for the second day today, and demand from the Chief Minister, Punjab to issue appointment letters to the teachers, those who cleared the eligibility test and cleared the counseling otherwise the agitation will be intensified in whole of the Punjab.
Addressing the protestors, Pardip Singh Babloo, Ramit Goyal, Sunil and Sikandar charged the government for showing discrimination and despotism. They further said that earlier the posts of teachers were advertised and it was claimed that on these posts, ETT pass teachers will be given appointment on merit basis but till date, the teachers who have passed the eligibility test, no appointment has so far been issued, with the result there is great resentment among such category of teachers.
Expressing concern on this issue, they added that Badal government for collecting the money first advertised the posts for collecting money and then put a condition of passing the test. They warned the government to immediately give appointment letters to the ETT teachers who have passed the eligibility test, failing which they will gherao the chief minister by intensifying the agitation in whole of the Punjab
