GPRS system in school buses
When you’re a principal you have lots of things to worry about. Take Anujit Kaur — principal of the Sector 16 Government Model Senior Secondary School — she used to worry about the school buses — where they were and how they were being driven. But not anymore!
Now she can check their precise location on the GPS tracking system. Tarlochan Singh, the bus contractor, explains that after the Delhi incident he decided to get his buses tagged for GPS/GPRS tracking. He initially tagged two as an experiment and when that has worked well, he went on to tag every one of his ten buses.
The GPS system opens up a lot of possibilities. For instance – for fifty rupees a month, a parent can get an SMS alert about the bus. The system even reports the speed at which the bus is travelling. If the driver is speeding, he can be sent a warning. The system also calculates the exact mileage. Principal Anujit Kaur is very happy with the GPS system.
The new GPS tagging has taken care of the school buses. Now just imagine that the kids themselves could be tagged and tracked on GPS every single minute. Wouldn’t every principal and parent love that!

Overturning of bus: School chairman named in FIR
11 Aug 2014
Hindustan Times
CHAIRMAN WAS NAMED AS PARENTS HAD EARLIER COMPLAINED TO THE SCHOOL MANAGEMENT AGAINST THE SAME DRIVER FOR RASH DRIVING

BHOLATH: Following Saturday’s accident where 16 schoolchildren were injured when the school bus they were travelling in overturned, a case has been registered against Ajanta Model Senior Secondary School chairman Raman Arora by the Kapurthala police on Sunday.

Whereas, even as eight days have passed since four-yearold Aarush Arora of Innocent Hearts School was crushed to death, the commissionerate police have not registered a case against the school management.

As per the FIR, the police registered the chairman also as responsible for the accident as parents had earlier complained to the school management against the same driver for rash driving.

The driver was responsible for a similar accident ten days ago when the bus slipped into fields nearby.

But, the children had escaped unhurt. Bholath station house officer (SHO) Parminder Singh said that they had named the school owner in the FIR for negligence because he failed to take any action in spite of parents complaining against driver Visakha Singh’s rash driving.

“If the school authorities are found guilty, we will arrest the chairman also,” he said.

The SHO also said that police raided many places to arrest driver who was absconding. Sukhjinder Singh, father of Harpreet Kaur (8) who was injured in the accident, said, "We had already requested the school authorities to change the driver because of his rash driving.”

The FIR said that the bus driver lost control of the overspeeding vehicle causing the bus to overturn on to fields near Baagwanpur-Kamrawa link road. Villagers and passerby rescued the children and the bus driver. However, driver Visakha Singh fled the spot.

The school bus, which was carrying around 25 children, was on its way to drop them at their homes.

रोज होगी स्कूल बसों की चेकिंग : डीसी
bhaskar 15/8/14
