No documents required to get admission in govt schools: DGSE
HT Live Correspondent, Hindustan Times
Ludhiana, April 04, 2013

According to the new directions issued by Director General School Education Kahan Singh Pannu, there is no need to provide any documents while getting admissions in a government school.
Pannu said, no student will be denied admission in any of the government school from classes 1 to

Talking to Hindustan Times, Pannu said, “According to the Right to Education Act, no student will be denied admission in schools so we are following the act and have directed the governments school heads not to take any documents from any student while providing admission to them. From classes 1 to 8, no documents are required and for classes 9 to 12, the school heads will only follow the standard format and mark the checklist about the documents submitted by the student.”

He added, “If student from classes 9 to 12 is not able to submit any document, admission will not be denied.”

Pannu said, “We just want every child to be educated and should not be debarred from getting admissions, as he/she does not have a birth certificate or any other document.”

Earlier the students had to submit certain documents such as: date of birth certificate, school leaving certificate and caste certificate in government schools at the time of admission.

Anoop Kumar Passi, principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Isewal, said, “We have started the admission process for class 1 to 12 from April 1 as per directions from the DGSE.”

Passi adds, “We have decided to follow DGSE's directions and will not ask any parent to submit any document for admission to any student.”

Barjinder Singh, incharge of Government Primary School, Dullay, Ludhiana, said, “We will follow the directions of the DGSE and no student will be denied admission.”
