tion in services and admission in educational institutional) Act-2016.
The agitating Jat leaders, who had moved the Punjab and Haryana high court seeking quota have been alleging that the government was dilly-dallying over the case seeking date after date and yet not submitting its notification on creamy layer before the high court.
A spokesman for the welfare of scheduled castes and backward classes department said the children of persons having gross annual income of up to `3 lakh would first of all get the benefit of reservation in services and admission in educational institutions.
The left-out quota will go to the people belonging to backward classes earning more than `3 lakh but up to `6 lakh per annum. The sections of the backward classes earning above `6 lakh per annum would be considered as creamy layer under Section 5 of the Act and excluded, the spokesman added.
Though the state government had made an announcement in the context in the past, it issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday, a day after a group of members of Jat community began an indefinite dharna in front of residence of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar here. They were forcibly removed from the dharna site around Tuesday midnight and taken to a rest house in Sector 28. “We were forcibly taken away from the site in front of CM’s residence and kept under house arrest at a government rest house before they left us back around 11 am on Wednesday,’’ one of the Jat leaders told HT.
