81 trains cancelled as Jhelum Express derails near Ludhiana
A major tragedy was averted due to the slow speed of the train.

The Railways has cancelled as many as 81 trains after 10 bogies of the Pune-bound Jhelum Express coming from Jammu derailed 50 metres short of a bridge over the Sutlej at Ladhuwal near Ludhiana in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The rail traffic on the line has been suspended and would be restored after seven to eight hours. Meanwhile, trains are being diverted via different routes.
Several passengers suffered minor injuries while three had to be hospitalised.
