Haryana notifies schedule of Government Holidays during 2017

Haryana Government has notified the schedule of holidays to be observed as public holidays in the public offices under the State government during the calendar year 2017.
 
The Government has also notified the holidays to be observed as public holidays in the State (Except Judicial Courts, in Haryana) within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.

While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that a notification has been issued by General Administration Department in this regard.

He said that the besides all Sundays and Saturdays, the holidays which would be observed as public holidays in the public offices included Guru Gobind Singh’s Birthday on January 5,Republic Day on January 26, Sir Chhotu Ram Jayanti and Basant Panchmi on February 1, Guru Ravidas’s Birthday on February 10, Maharishi Dayanand Sarswati Jayanti on February 21, Maha Shivratri on February 24, Holi on March 13, Shaheedi Diwas of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on March 23, Ram Navami on April 4, Vaisakhi on April 13, Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s Jayanti on April 14, Lord Parshu Ram Jayanti on April 28, Budh Purnima May 10, Sant Kabir Jayanti on June 9, Id-ul-Fitr on June 26, Hariyali Teej on July 26, Independence Day and Janmashtami on August 15, Maharana Agrasen Jayanti on September 21, Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday on October 2, Maharishi Valmiki’s Birthday on October 5, Diwali on October 19, Vishavkarma Day on October 20, Haryana Day on November 1, Christmas Day  and Guru Gobind Singh’s Birthday on December 25 and Shaheed Udham Singh’ Birthday on December 26.

The spokesman said that the festivals and occasions which falls on the closed day and have been excluded from the list included Mahavir Jayanti on April 9, Maharana Partap Jayanti on May 28, Id-ul-Juha(Bakrid) on September 2, Haryana’s Heroes’ Martyrdom Day on September 23, Dussehra on September 30, Muharram on October 1, Karwa Chauth(R.H.) on October 8, Guru Nanak’s Birthday on November 4 and Milad-un-Nabi or Id-E-Milad ( Birthday of Prophet Mohammad) on December 2. He said that besides these holidays employees may be allowed any two holidays to be chosen out of the Restricted Holidays. These included Good Friday on April 14, Guru Arjan Dev’s Martyrdom Day on June 16, Shaheed Udham Singh’s Martyrdom Day on July 31, Raksha Bandhan on August 7, Goverdhan Puja on October 20, Chhath Puja on October 26 and Guru Teg Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day on November 24.

He said that holidays to be observed as public holidays in the State (Except Judicial Courts, in Haryana) within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 included all Sundays, Republic Day on January 26, Guru Ravidas’s Birthday on February 10, Maha Shivratri on February 24, Holi on March 13, Annual Closing of Bank Account (Ist working day of April) on April 1,Mahavir Jayanti on April 9, Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s Jayanti on April 14, Budh Purnima on May 10, Id-ul-Fitr on June 26, Independence Day and Janmashtami on August 15, Dussehra on September 30 and Guru Nanak’s Birthday on November 4.
