Punjab Govt. Contract Employees Action Committee to plan ‘Do or Die’ strategy for regularization of services
State Level Meeting planned in first week of August

Ferozepur, July 19, 2015: The Punjab Government Contract Employees Action Committee has decided to chalk out ‘Do or Die’ strategy for regularization of 4450 contract workers on roll under different categories in Punjab since 2004.
Giving this information, Rajinder Singh spokesperson of PGCEAC said, few days back, a meeting was held at Ludhiana under the tutelage of Sajjan Singh where a ‘joint front’ was formed to register protest with the government against the exploitation of contract workers for more than a decade.
He informed that as present there are 4450 contract workers working in the state – 1400 under SSA/RMSA non-teaching employees, 1250 under MNGREGA, 1150 under Suwindha Centres, 200 under Mid Day Meal and 450 under Water and Sanitation. Even some of the employees are on rolls since 2004.
He further said, all the unions have joined the ‘Joint Front’ constituted for the purpose with Sajjan Singh as Chairman, Varinder Singh President, Ashish Julaha, General Secretary, Parveen Kumar, Vice President, Rajiv Gupta, Chief Organizer and Daljinder Singh, Amritpal Singh, Secretary and Jimmy Khan as Press Secretary.
Speaking to the media persons, Ashish Julaha said, in the first week of August, State Level Convention will be held at Chandigarh. However, a meeting to plan ‘do or die’ strategy for regularization of services of contract employees, will be discussed in the meeting on July 25 at Chandigarh.
